Her Excellency Shorna-Kay Richards presents credentials in New Zealand as non-resident High Commissioner

Her Excellency Shorna- Kay Richards visited New Zealand from 09–12 May 2023, during which she presented her Letter of Introduction on 10 May to the Right Honourable Chris Hipkins, Prime Minister, formally accrediting her as Jamaica’s non-resident High Commissioner.

 

The presentation of credentials was among several other engagements during the week. These included meetings with officials from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade offices in Wellington and Auckland, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the Ministry for Primary Industries, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and the Auckland Chamber of Commerce as well as members of academia.

 

There were discussions which covered the general bilateral agenda and specific topics such as agriculture and capacity building in that area; Small Island Developing States issues, including tourism resilience; multilateral issues including disarmament matters; opportunities to increase trade and investment ties.

 

With the support of Jamaica’s Honorary Consul in Nelson, Mr. David Phillips, the High Commissioner also engaged the Diaspora living in the cities of Wellington and Auckland.
